Bifenthrin Cancer
Bifenthrin is poorly soluble in water and often remains in soil.
Bifenthrin cancer. Bifenthrin was rapidly cleared from both blood and liver. Bifenthrin has the longest known residual time in soil of insecticides currently on the market. Brain concentrations peaked at 4 6 hr and were lower than in blood at both doses 12 and 143. There was no evidence of cancer in a 2 year study of rats who ate as much as 10 mg kg day of bifenthrin.
Is bifenthrin likely to contribute to the development of cancer. However an 87 week feeding study of mice with doses of 7 29 71 and 86 mg kg showed a significantly higher dose related trend of increased tumor incidence in the male urinary bladder 63 67. Epa classifies bifenthrin as a possible human carcinogen. Bifenthrin is slowly absorbed by the body after being eaten and most of it is excreted within 3 7 days.
There was no evidence of cancer in a 2 year study of rats who ate as much as 10 mg kg day of bifenthrin. This rating was based on studies in mice. Bifenthrin concentration in blood and liver peaked 1 2 hr post oral administration and were approximately 90 ng ml or g and 1000 ng ml or g for both tissues at 0 3 and 3 mg kg respectively. However an 87 week feeding study of mice with doses of 7 29 71 and 86 mg kg showed a significantly higher dose related trend of increased tumor incidence in the male urinary bladder 5 9.
Studies indicate that bifenthrin does not absorb through the skin well.
